Science Skills Progression Ladder.
The Scientific area of learning is concerned with increasing pupils’ knowledge and understanding of our world, and with developing skills associated with Science as a process of enquiry. It will develop the natural curiosity of the child, and encourage respect for living organisms and the physical environment. We place astrong emphasis on securing the basic skills of Science, building up a body of key foundational knowledge
and concepts, by revisiting the same topics every year, before investigating the advancing elements .Through this wide breadth of study, we aim for pupils by the end of each Key Stage to have a sustained long-term memory of science. We encourage science to be taught in a practical, investigative manner whenever possible, as experiments bring theory to life, nurturing pupils’ natural curiosity, teaching them to ask questions and helping them to understand phenomena such as magnetism.
